Meet The Artist: Andrea Wild
Meet The Artist:
Andrea Wild

Art has always lived in Andrea Wild Botero’s blood—passed down from her parents, shaped by years as an art dealer, and fully awakened during quiet days spent painting by the sea. What began as sketches soon grew into a calling, reconnecting her with the colors, textures, and memories of her childhood in Colombia.
For Wild, an exclusive capsule with Agua by Agua Bendita, Andrea channels the warmth of Cartagena, the rhythm of San Andrés, and the stillness of the countryside. Her hand-illustrated motifs, paired with Agua’s signature coffers, tell stories of sun, salt, and fruit-filled afternoons.
Rooted in shared values—craft, culture, and a deep love of place—this collaboration is more than a collection. It’s a tribute to memory, and to the beauty of coming home through art.
My love of art was instilled in me from the day I was born by my parents and grandparents. Art runs through my veins. It's what I've known, loved and been surrounded by since I can remember. It's not only that they loved to take me to museums and galleries but they've always been passionate about art history and ever-curious about the ins and outs of the art market. To this day, art is one of the main subjects at the dinner table.
It was the most organic thing. I was one of the directors of a contemporary art gallery in Mexico City when the pandemic started and like almost everyone else, we had to go digital overnight. I found myself working remotely and being online all day. However, I was lucky enough that the lockdown caught me in a little slice of paradise called Careyes, on the Pacific coast of Mexico. So I ended up spending 6 months there and in my down time, to clear my mind, I started to sketch and paint. I became addicted. One day I decided to post a palenquera I had painted in one of my stories on Instagram (on my private account). My friends commented and threw a compliment here and there but no one understood that I had painted her. Slowly, people started to ask where these drawings were coming from and in no time, commissions started coming my way for projects, big and small. I accepted absolutely everything gladly, and basically for free, because I was so happy to have any excuse to continue painting. I loved the challenge of bringing their idea to life. I happened to be pregnant during Covid so after my daughter was born in December 2020, I had to choose between the gallery and illustration because the workload had become too much and I could not manage both. For me the choice was a no-brainer. I loved being an art dealer for 10 years, working with artists, curating exhibitions, attending art fairs and auctions, but nothing ever gave me as much joy and satisfaction as painting and designing has. I made that choice in March 2021 and I've never looked back.
My childhood in Colombia. I grew up in Bogotà but we used to spend most weekends and school holidays between Cartagena, a tiny island on the Caribbean called San Andres, and my father's farm in Carmen de Apicala. Even though they are all warm, magical, lush and tropical places, they are completely different to one another. Every single element I designed for this collaboration has a story or a reason for being, and it reminds me of happy, beautiful, sun-soaked days with salt on my skin and half an eaten fruit in my hand. You can take the girl out of Colombia but you can't take Colombia out of the girl.
Instinctively I share the brand's passion for cultural significance and their north star which is to honor Colombia because I am so proud of my roots. Like Agua, nature is also my primal source of inspiration and I fully embrace it with every brush stroke. Agua has an incredible team of local artisans that bring their beautiful garments to life and garnish them with the most intricate embroidery and beading. I deeply value these qualities of dedication and creativity as I pursue them every day myself. On a personal level, I admire Mariana and Catalina because of what they've built through their unique vision, dedication and persistence. They have managed to create a beautiful, empowering brand that supports a huge community of people, especially women, while never forgetting that they themselves are mothers first. That is something I feel akin to and admire.
